The response to the initial email suggesting a cruise to observe our significant birthday was so much better than our wildest dreams.
The majority wanted the Caribbean. We are set to sail out of Ft. Lauderdale on March 15 for 10 days in the southern Caribbean with Celebrity Cruise Line. This is one of the best itineraries I have seen. The islands are unique but small and fun (see attached flier). For our purposes, the four at-sea days will give us the opportunity to visit, re-bond, and explore the amenities of the ship. Check out the ship (Equinox) at celebritycruises.com.
We have chosen Sonia Sanan as our travel agent. She is with Travel Leaders, a local company experienced with group tours. We have reserved 25 balcony staterooms on the 7th deck. These reservations MUST be confirmed (and a deposit of $900 pp) by Oct 1, 2012. If you know you are going, making your deposit by June 3 will give you best choice for rooms and eliminate a need for the committee to put down a $50 deposit for each cabin. Sonia will also work with you for airline reservations . . . or you can use your own travel agent.
It goes without saying that travel companions are welcome. We have asked Celebrity for reduced rates for our single classmates and will try to provide info on classmates who want/need to share a room. Updates will be posted on 61 bombers.com
One more incentive to come on the cruise – Celebrity will be providing a birthday party including drinks, snacks and a CAKE!
